How Trio works

What does Trio do?

Trio provides on-demand, qualified engineers for small and medium-sized businesses. Please see our About Us section for more info about what Trio does.

How Trio is different from software development agencies?

Traditional software development agencies merely build software. Trio builds software engineering teams that understand your goals and deliver exceptional results.

Do Trio engineers and teams work remotely?

Yes. Trio software engineers are located across the world. But Trio makes use of modern digital tools and effective communication to keep our developers and our partners closely connected.

Is Trio an inexpensive option?

Trio might not be right for you if you are looking for the cheapest option on the market. We aim to provide excellent value to our customers by placing world-class engineers, not by cutting costs. Our software engineers are compensated fairly for the amazing work they do.

What experience do your engineers have?

Most of our engineers have years of experience in software engineering, but Trio is also committed to training junior engineers. We help them hone their skills, and we give them opportunities to grow. Because we have engineers across the globe, our diverse group of talent brings knowledge and experience from various backgrounds, which makes solving software engineering challenges easier.

Is there a minimum contract duration for a Trio engineer to join my team?

Our standard contract duration is a minimum of 12 months. The actual duration may depend on the size and scope of the project, which can be evaluated when we discuss your project goals. Ready to get started?

I don’t need a team. Can I request only one engineer for a project?

No. We've found through trial and error that software developers as a whole work best in groups. We want to encourage the most productive and conducive working model for our engineers and partners.

Can you provide an engineer on a part-time basis?

Our developers normally join our partners on a full-time basis. In some cases, we can consider clients that are interested in building a long-term partnership that starts with a part-time role. We’d love to hear more about your project to get a better idea of your ideal time commitment.

Where can I find examples of your work?

Check out these examples of our work and testimonials from our partners. If you have more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us so we can address your questions.

Where are your engineers located?

We have engineers in over 10 countries across South America. Their stellar communication skills allow them to work as if all team members were located in the same office. Drawing in engineers across the globe gives us a greater variety of talent for different markets.

What you can expect when working with Trio

When working with Trio, you can expect talented engineers, absolute professionalism, and flawless communication. Our mission and values drive us towards collaboration, excellence, and success.

How will the Distributed Teams be managed?

Most of the time, our engineering teams are managed directly by our partners. We provide the engineers, and you have the flexibility to manage them as you like. If you want to know more about people on our team, please visit our Teams page for more information.

How soon can Trio engineers join my team?

Depending on your needs and circumstances, it can vary between 1 to 3 weeks. Within this time, we’ll prepare the engineers and integrate them into your project. Adding resources won’t even interrupt your workflow. We’d love to hear more about your project to get a better idea of how soon we can start working together.

How long does the onboarding process take?

Onboarding Trio engineers normally takes two weeks. We take this time to evaluate your needs and business goals to design a project plan. Every project is different, and Trio doesn't offer a one-size-fits-all solution. We analyze every project individually so that we can perfectly tailor each solution.

What happens if there are any issues with my team/engineer or if it’s just not working out?

If there are any issues, we would be happy to work with you to address them. At Trio, we pride ourselves on our transparency with our partners and teams. If an engineer ends up not being the right fit for you, please contact us. We are happy to bring in other engineers to better fit your needs.

If you need to take a break from our partnership or bring it to a close, you need only give us a 30-day notice.

Can your engineer come onsite?

Trio works as a remote company, and most of our engineers are abroad. If being onsite is truly a requirement, then we can work with you to coordinate a visit or a relocation.

Where can I meet Trio representatives?

You can meet Trio representatives at industry-related events or at our headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.

how-to

How to hire a remote developer

How do I hire a good developer?

Hiring a good developer takes time. You also need experience with software development on both operational and managerial levels. You have to know what skills you’re looking for—and how to test those skills. Trio takes care of all these steps before you even need a developer.

How much does it cost to hire a developer?

The cost of hiring a developer depends on the region in which the professional is located, as well as their depth of experience. A junior developer, for instance, will cost less to hire than a senior developer. Similarly, (North) American developers tend to have higher hiring costs than South American developers.

How do remote developers work?

Remote developers work in the comfort of their homes. They use technologies like Zoom and Slack to communicate with the rest of their team. Much of the development workflow is remote, such as pushing code onto GitHub or Bitbucket, and they can manage their tasks using products like Trello and Jira.
