Our Hiring Process
Hiring is Trio's most critical process. Through this carefully designed system, we select engineers not only based on their technical aptitude, but core competencies. These include soft skills such as self-management, problem-solving, adaptability, communication, and a team-oriented mindset.
We’re always improving this process to meet the ever-changing nature of the market.
Our candidates should feel well-informed, fairly treated, and personally connected to Trio. We seek quality while prioritizing ethics.

Preparing candidates for interviews
Preparing candidates for interviews
We follow a clear rubric for every interview, which helps us compare applicant responses fairly and consistently. Our pre-structured questions ask about prior achievements and behaviors (“Tell me about a time…”) and hypothetical situations (“What would you do if…?”).
Structured interviews help talent acquisition specialists avoid confirmation bias. We also continuously refresh those questions to make sure the candidates’ answers are off-the-cuff.
In this interview, we are also looking to see that a candidate has good communication skills, which includes verifying that their English is fluid and articulate.

How we take care of our engineers
We also manage our engineers’ personal experience with Trio and with each project. Our team members are happy and well-supported, so they tend to stay on each project longer than average. We appreciate our engineers and empower them to create incredible code.
Supportive environment
Our engineers and other team members are thoughtful, friendly, and easy to work with. Any job is more enjoyable if you have good coworkers. (This is why evaluating soft skills is so important during hiring!)
Every week, we check in with our engineers to see how their projects are going and how they’re feeling. We encourage them to actively participate in the development process. If they have any concerns or struggles, we want to help.
Professional development
We have regular trainings, hackathons, and incredible opportunities for professional development. Working with Trio means staying on the bleeding edge of technology. Our guest speakers include industry experts and thought leaders (even from institutions like Harvard and Google).
We also help our engineers manage their careers by mapping out future goals and a plan to reach them—with plenty of Trio support, of course!
Social connections
Trio curates the time and space for our engineers to spend time with each other even outside of work. From Slack channels to game nights, we supply the tools for our engineers to create meaningful relationships that benefit their social wellbeing.
Our engineers might not be in the same room but they're definitely on the same page. They don't only enjoy the work that they do but who they work with. Trio isn't only a place of work, but a network hub.
